Battle of the Bulge 2005
Forming up in the cold, on the double, to respond to the German breakthrough. We were encouraged by the local French ladies to whom we had become attached, loaded up in open trucks ,and taken to a place called Bastogne....
The woods were thick and the snow was deep, but in large numbers or small parties, the mission was the same: take up strong positions and hold at all costs
Solitary moments were few and appreciated, resting in the snow to catch breath, have a smoke, or break out some K-Rations, or gather for a photo...
More fortunate than our historical counterparts, we could visit with real Gliderman Robert Bowen, at center of the photo on the left, or get a shower, a shave, and change into our class A's for dinner and dancing.
